Where the top 2025 prospects from Texas signed
Another recruiting cycle has come and mostly gone, and once again the state of Texas reigns king over the pool of high school football talent in the United States.
Nine five-star prospects in the 2025 class hail from the Lone Star State, and each of the top 55 recruits from Texas are blue-chip talents. Of the top 10 players from Texas, just five-star offensive tackle Ty Haywood is yet to put pen to paper and sign with a college.
Of those top 10 prospects, five signed with a school from the state of Texas. However, the top three recruits in the state are heading to programs elsewhere around the country.
Below are where the top 10 prospects from Texas in the 2025 cycle signed earlier this month:
1. Keelon Russell — Alabama
School: Duncanville
On3 Industry Ranking: No. 2 NATL. (No. 2 QB)
Scouting Summary: “Well-rounded, instinctive quarterback prospect with surgical passing ability, good athleticism and a battle-tested resume. Measured at 6-foot-3 ⅛, 181 pounds with a 9 ⅝-inch hand at the On3 Elite Series prior to his senior season. Grew over half an inch as a junior. At the dials of one of the most talented offenses in high school football, leading Duncanville to back-to-back state titles in Texas highest classification as a sophomore and junior. Showed steady improvement over his final year of high school, winning the Elite 11 Finals MVP and taking his game to another level as a senior. Highly effective and efficient as a distributor. Plays with excellent timing and accuracy. Arm strength took a jump as a senior, delivering with outstanding zip to the intermediate area of the field. Shows elite pocket presence at this stage. Unaffected by pressure and shows a willingness to step up and deliver in messy pockets. A good decision-maker who runs Duncanville’s offense at a high level. One of the most efficient quarterbacks in the 2025 cycle, completing 74.1% of his passes for 3,267 yards and 35 touchdowns against 3 interceptions over 15 games as a junior. Also rushed for 304 yards and 4 touchdowns. A good athlete as a runner. More dangerous as a rushing threat than his production would indicate. Effective as a scrambler and has a good feel for when to tuck it and run.
“Showed more playmaking ability as a senior, making some astounding improvisational plays. Processes the game well and plays quickly mentally. Competitive and plays well in big moments. Should not have as big of an adjustment to the speed of the game as some of his peers, given his battle-tested resume. At his best when delivering from a set platform. Plays with a loaded supporting cast featuring multiple Power 4 prospects that maximizes yards after the catch. Has a thin, lean build and will need to continue getting bigger and stronger to hold up in the pocket, particularly at the NFL level. One of the younger top quarterbacks in the 2025 cycle, with a late April birthday. Consistent improvement over the past year in high school points to a favorable upside.”
2. Dakorien Moore — Oregon
School: Duncanville
On3 Industry Ranking: No. 4 NATL. (No. 1 WR)
Scouting Summary: “Skilled, athletic wide receiver who has separated himself as the top pass-catcher in the 2025 cycle. Possesses an extremely well-rounded skill set. Measured in at 5-foot-10 ⅞, 186 pounds with 31 ⅝-inch arms at the On3 Elite Series prior to his senior season. Has very large hands for his size, at 10.25 inches. A dynamic track athlete, running a scintillating 10.40 second time in the 100 meters along with a long jump over 24 feet. Also tests well in the combine setting. Shows a refined and well-rounded skill set as a receiver both on Friday nights and in the camp setting. Harnesses his great top end speed with change of direction and lateral agility, making for consistent separation. Has the long speed to separate deep and take the top off of defenses.
“Shifty after the catch and uses his field vision to find open space, sometimes cutting back across the field. Ferocious ball-winner at the catch point, using his bounce and strong hands to consistently come down with jump balls. Plays much bigger than his size and has a large catch radius. Highly productive as a junior, while leading his team to a second straight state title in Texas’ largest classification, catching 69 passes for 1,486 yards (21.5 yards per catch) and 18 touchdowns. Does not have prototypical size as an outside receiver, but has the athleticism and skills to compensate. Looks like an immediate impact player and one with a high long-term ceiling.”
3. Devin Sanchez — Ohio State
School: Houston North Shore
On3 Industry Ranking: No. 7 NATL. (No. 1 CB)
Scouting Summary: “Tall, athletic cornerback who boasts the most refined coverage skill set among top defensive backs in the 2025 cycle. Measured at 6-foot-2, 180 pounds with 32-inch arms at the On3 Elite Series prior to his senior season. Touts a strong size and speed combination, running 10.69 seconds in the 100 meters as a junior. A lockdown defender while playing for the top high school program in Houston. Not targeted often, but makes plays on the ball at a very high rate.
“Finished with 11 pass breakups and five interceptions as a junior. Comfortable in working on an island in man coverage. Has smooth and technical footwork. Shows instincts and ball skills. Does a great job staying attached on vertical routes. Even when he gives up a catch, still manages to be in good position. A one-way, specialized cornerback prospect. Will need to add physicality to his game as he tends to shy away from contact as a tackler. High-end traits and polish make him the safest bet in coverage in the cycle with his ceiling likely to be determined by his development as a run defender and open field tackler.”
4. Jonah Williams — Texas
School: Galveston Ball
On3 Industry Ranking: No. 11 NATL. (No. 1 S)
Scouting Summary: “Jumbo safety prospect with the size, athleticism and playmaking instincts to be a potential queen on the chessboard for defensive coordinators. Has linebacker size with the athleticism of a top defensive back. Measured in at 6-foot-3 ⅛, 206 pounds with 32.25-inch arms at the On3 Elite Series prior to his senior season. Registers as a top athlete in the combine setting. A true three-phase playmaker on Friday nights, lining up at safety, wide receiver and as a return man. An easy, fluid mover with a great top gear. Covers ground in a hurry. Shows outstanding range in coverage. Covers from hash to sideline with ease. Has high-level ball skills with the ability to track the football over his shoulder. Had four interceptions as a junior along with eight pass breakups. Capable of covering tight ends and receivers out of the slot.
“Eraser athleticism with his ability to run sideline-to-sideline in pursuit. Has the skill level to be a wide receiver prospect if he wanted. Scored 13 touchdowns on offense as a senior and ran back two kicks in eight games. A two-sport standout, as a talented baseball player who throws 94 MPH as a left-handed pitcher. Physicality is adequate, but not elite even though he showed progress on that front as a senior. Has more of a true free safety skill set despite his size. Missed a chunk of his senior season with a broken collarbone. Rare movement skills and size give him the upside to be a game-changing movable piece at the college and pro level.”
5. Michael Fasusi — Oklahoma
School: Lewisville
On3 Industry Ranking: No. 13 NATL. (No. 2 OT)
Scouting Summary: “Hyper-physical offensive lineman who looks like the top pure run blocker at offensive tackle in the loaded 2025 cycle. Measured in at 6-foot-5, 299 pounds with 9.75-inch hands at the On3 Elite Series prior to his senior season. Has plus length for the position, with arms that measure 34 ⅞ inches. Has a barrel-chested build. Added significant size during the off-season between his sophomore and junior years. Spends most of his time as a left tackle, but has also played some on the right side. Has elite natural brute strength. A bull in the run game. Latches onto defensive linemen and keeps his feet moving on contact. Hands are loaded with dynamite. Stuns opposing defensive linemen on contact. Gets a considerable push at the point of attack. Plays with an edge and works to finish blocks with authority. Showed encouraging improvement on the field as a junior, adding play strength. A solid overall athlete with upside to continue improving as a pass protector.
“Can improve lateral agility and balance. Has a tendency to lunge and get off balance when facing college-level prospects in the camp setting. Also participates in track and field, sporting a personal best throw of 51-8.75 feet in the shot put as a junior, a strong mark. Ability in the run game gives him a high floor with the positional versatility to play tackle or guard long-term. Very young for the cycle, turning 17 years old in July prior to his senior season. Ultimate ceiling will be determined by his continued improvement in pass protection, but the upside to be an early NFL Draft pick is there.”
6. Lamont Rogers — Texas A&M
School: Mesquite Horn
On3 Industry Ranking: No. 18 NATL. (No. 4 OT)
Scouting Summary: “Freakish physical talent along the offensive line with rare dimensions and athletic traits. Measured at nearly 6-foot-7, 310 pounds prior to his senior season. The longest top offensive lineman in the 2025 cycle with 35-inch arms to go with 10 5/8 inch hands. A sudden, twitchy athlete who shows his advanced movement skills on Friday nights. Lines up at left tackle for his high school team. Explodes off the snap and envelops defensive linemen on contact. Has been a vicious run blocker for the majority of his high school career.

“Is able to reach cornerbacks when blocking on perimeter screens. Showed marked improvement in pass protection as a senior, while playing some of the best competition in the state of Texas. A multi-sport athlete who doubles as a prolific basketball player in addition to playing soccer. Still needs to develop technically. Can stand to improve his lower body strength and flexibility. Should see improvement once he receives college coaching and gets in a Power 4 strength program. Has one of the higher upsides in the loaded 2025 offensive line cycle.”
7. Ty Haywood — Alabama*
School: Denton Ryan
On3 Industry Ranking: No. 22 NATL. (No. 5 OT)
Scouting Summary: “Explosive, powerful offensive tackle with high-end traits for the position. Measured in at around 6-foot-4.75, 297 pounds with 33 ⅞-inch arms and 10-inch hands at the On3 Elite Series prior to his senior season. Added around 15 pounds prior to his junior season. Shows encouraging movement skills in the camp setting. Doubles as a standout in track and field with a stellar 58-6 foot shot put throw as a junior. Transfers those physical attributes over to the field in a functional way. Works at left tackle for Denton Ryan, one of the top talent-producing high school programs in North Texas.
“Flashes very strong hands, stunning defensive linemen with his initial punch. Has strong grip strength and maintains his blocks. A bully in the run game. Plays with a sturdy base and shows the ability to anchor on contact. Will need to continue honing his pass-set technique. Has some stiffness in his lower body and could stand to improve flexibility. Lunges and loses balance at times and didn’t move quite as well as a senior. Frame may project more as a maxed 315-pounder than at 325+. Has the skill set to project at multiple spots along the offensive line, but stacks up well among a loaded offensive tackle group in the 2025 cycle.”
8. Lance Jackson — Texas
School: Texarkana Pleasant Grove
On3 Industry Ranking: No. 25 NATL. (No. 2 EDGE)
Scouting Summary: ““First off the bus” prospect who pairs outstanding size, athleticism and effort level to be one of the top EDGE prospects in the 2025 cycle. Measured in at 6-foot-5.25, 270 pounds at the On3 Elite Series prior to his senior season. Has plus length with 34-inch arms to go with 10-inch hands. Excellent weight distribution throughout his frame and looks to be a lean 270. Lines up as a defensive end and tight end for his high school. Dominant off the edge as a senior, tallying over 20 tackles for loss and double-digit sacks. Shows high level initial quickness. Continued to add flexibility as a senior. Dips his shoulder and bends the edge very well for such a big defensive end. Runs the hoop and finishes behind the line of scrimmage at a high rate.
“Length shows up in implementing a straight arm move. Has the capability to walk offensive tackles back to the quarterback with speed-to-power. An effective edge setter with his size and strength. Plays with a high effort level on defense. Shows his athleticism as a tight end, with the ability to stretch the seam. Physical as a blocker. Bigger than most EDGE prospects, opening up the possibility that he could outgrow the position. Will benefit from full-time focus on defense once he gets to college. Physical traits and play personality translate to all levels and point to a high upside as a potential early NFL Draft pick.”
9. Kaliq Lockett — Texas
School: Sachse
On3 Industry Ranking: No. 30 NATL. (No. 6 WR)
Scouting Summary: “Kaliq Lockett- Long-limbed pass-catcher with a large catch radius and functional movement skills. Measured in at 6-foot-1.5, 175 pounds at the On3 Elite Series prior to his senior season. Has elite length and a big frame, with arms that measure 33.5 inches to go with 10.25-inch hands. Shows the ability to win at every level on Friday nights and in the camp setting.
“Stacks cornerbacks off the line of scrimmage with his initial burst and releases. Offers the movement skills of a smaller wide receiver with the catch radius and high-point ability of a jumbo pass-catcher. Shows shake and good play speed to separate within his routes. Plays with a high level of technical ability. Catches with good technique, using his hands to frame the football. Shows acrobatic in-air ability with the wherewithal to out-jump defenders in contested situations. Also flashes high-level tracking skills. Turned in a strong junior season, hauling in 59 catches for 1,299 yards and 13 touchdowns. Production took a dip as a senior as he finished with 625 yards and seven touchdowns on 47 catches. Will need to continue filling out his frame. Top end speed looks to be solid, but can be improved.”
10. Kade Phillips — Texas
School: Missouri City Hightower
On3 Industry Ranking: No. 34 NATL. (No. 5 CB)
Scouting Summary: “One of the top physical talents at cornerback in the 2025 cycle with unique dimensions, athleticism and ball skills. Measured in at 6-foot-0.5, 180 pounds with elite length (33.5-inch arms) and massive 10.5-inch hands. A top track athlete who was a state finalist in the long jump as a junior. Shows his high-end physical traits on Friday nights. A two-way standout for his high school team, lining up at wide receiver and corner.
“Shows excellent ball skills, coming down with contested catches with regularity. The ball skills manifest in high-end ball production with several receiving touchdowns and interceptions as a senior. Able to stay in phase and uses his burst to close cushions quickly. Draws on his experience as a safety to provide a physical presence in run support. Will need to continue adding technical polish to his cover skills. Owns one of the highest upsides at cornerback in the 2025 cycle.”
