Will Howard injury update: Peacock broadcast reveals update on Ohio State QB status
Ohio State quarterback Will Howard suffered an injury late in the second quarter on Saturday night. He was drilled in the chest during a play. He lied on the ground for minute, was evaluated by Ohio State medical staff, and then eventually headed to the Buckeyes’ sideline. Shortly after, the Buckeyes inserted backup quarterback Devin Brown into the game.
Brown completed a touchdown pass to freshman star receiver Jeremiah Smith, who continues to set the college football world on fire. During the second half of the Peacock broadcast of Ohio State-Michigan State, the broadcast updated the status of the Buckeyes starting quarterback, Will Howard.
He came back into the game for Ohio State at the start of the third quarter. So, he appears to be fine for now. Ohio State rolled to a 38-7 victory on Saturday night. They haven’t been remotely challenged yet, with the Buckeyes throttling all four of their opponents.
Howard completed 67.7% of his passes for 244 yards, while tossing in two touchdowns with one interception. Backup quarterback Devin Brown completed 5 of 7 passes for 54 yards, while tossing in a touchdown pass to Jeremiah Smith. He’s one of the best freshman wide receivers in college football history and he’s got the highlight film to back that up. Smith finished with five catches for 83 yards and a touchdown.

Another OSU receiver, Emeka Egbuka, hauled in seven catches for 96 yards and a touchdown. He and Smith form one of the nation’s most dominant wide receiver tandems. They’ll continue to look for Howard to target two of college football’s biggest and brightest stars.
Ohio State rolled up 185 rushing yards against the Spartans. Michigan State greatly hurt their chances with three turnovers in the red zone. Those pretty much eliminated any sort of hope they’d be able to keep pace with Ohio State. The Spartans now have 13 turnovers in their first five games. They’ll have to try and clean that up if they wish to play better the rest of the way.
Ohio State moved to 4-0 on the 2024 campaign and Michigan State dropped to 3-2 overall.
