Will Levis on NFL Draft betting surge: Don't get mad at me if you lose money

Will Levis doesn’t use Reddit, but his influence on the platform has forced sportsbooks across the board to boost his NFL Draft odds.

After becoming the odds-on favorite to become the No. 2 overall pick, the former Kentucky quarterback saw his odds boosted from +4000 odds to +400 overnight to become the first pick in Thursday’s NFL Draft. Levis has now responded to the bettors that have placed wages on him — wishing them all the best.

“Don’t get mad at me if you lose money,” Levis said. “But, you’re welcome if you win money.”

Reddit user ‘SaleAgreeable2834’ — an account created six days before the viral post — claims that Levis will be drafted No. 1 overall to the Carolina Panthers, contrary to popular belief.

Levis and the bettors share the same perspective when it comes to who should be drafted No. 1 overall, but former Alabama QB Bryce Young is still the heavy favorite to be drafted first on draft night.

The former Kentucky star’s draft standing differs from analyst to analyst, but as prep comes to a halt and draft day arrives — Levis’ stock continues to rise despite the polarizing opinions on him.

His stats were down across the board between his junior and senior campaigns, but the difference in Levis’s stats comes from the talent around him, particularly on his offensive line. Levis was sacked 36 times in 2022, which ranked Kentucky’s OL No. 128 out of 131 in the FBS. He was sacked 11.80 percent of the times he dropped back in the pocket last season. 

He is by far the most polarizing player in the draft. But that’s not his fault — it is the fault of those around him at Kentucky. Levis had little-to-no help out wide, and was without his star running back until halfway through the season. By the time Kentucky got back to full strength everywhere else, the injuries had already piled up oh himself.

Whether he goes No. 1 or No. 2 overall, Levis is not likely to wait very long for his name to be called when the 2023 NFL Draft gets underway from Thursday, April 27 through Saturday, April 29 in Kansas City, Missouri. The draft will be broadcasted throughout the weekend on ESPN, ABC and NFL Network.
