Paul Chryst on playing USC, UCLA in Big Ten: I hope I'm still there
Wisconsin‘s football team has found itself in the upper-to-middle tier of the Big Ten since head coach Paul Chryst took over the Badgers program in 2015, and the additions of USC and UCLA might change things.
According to Chryst, the moves will be major – if he’s still around to see them pan out.
“I got asked how are you going to feel when you play your first conference game at USC,” Chryst said, via ESPN’s Chris Low. “I said, ‘I hope I’m (bleeping) still there.’”
With at least eight wins in every complete season as Wisconsin’s head coach, Chryst has compiled a respectable 65 wins and 23 losses. As the winningest Badgers headman of the 21st century, Chryst has an impeccable 6-1 record in the postseason with the only loss coming in the 2019 Rose Bowl.
For Chryst to insinuate he’d be out of a job come 2024 is an interesting notion, and at age 56 is still a decade or two away from retirement, as most successful head ball coaches call it a career around the ages of 60 and 70.
Nonetheless, Chryst’s coaching career began in 1989. Five decades later, and the Wisconsin coach is still going strong – hopefully long enough to earn a regular season win on the west coast in the near future.

WATCH: Wisconsin star Nick Herbig loses mind following summer workout lift
Fall camp hasn’t started yet but Wisconsin linebacker Nick Herbig is clearly chomping at the bit to get on the field. The junior linebacker posted a video on Twitter from summer workouts which shows him executing a very heavy clean. With his teammates hyping him up around him, Herbig throws down the bar and celebrates by sticking his tongue out wildly like he just sacked C.J. Stroud.
The potential 2023 NFL Draft pick captioned the video, “Live look at how I’m feeling heading into camp,” with several tongue-out emojis.
Entering his third season with the Badgers, Nick Herbig is coming off of a breakout year in 2021. He had 61 total tackles with 40 solo, 14.5 TFLs and nine sacks. He also had a forced fumble. His sacks put him at No. 4 overall in the Big 10, behind three of the top linebackers taken in the 2022 NFL Draft – Aidan Hutchinson, David Ojabo and Arnold Ebiketie.
