Weather again impacted Thursday’s action as the Women’s College World Series got underway. The final game of the day has been postponed as a result, the NCAA announced.

Washington and Utah were supposed to square off after the Florida State vs. Oklahoma State game, but that matchup will now take place Friday. Game time had not been announced at the time of publication. The news came as FSU and Oklahoma State entered their second delay of the day after first pitch was pushed back an hour and 14 minutes due to inclement weather in Oklahoma City.

The latest delay came in the top of the third inning with Florida State ahead 2-0. The Seminoles struck first on a monstrous two-run home run from Michaela Edenfield in the bottom of the first inning.

Washington and Utah were supposed to start their game at 8:30 p.m. ET and first pitch was already pushed back because of the initial delay before first pitch between the Seminoles and Cowgirls. Now, the game will take place Friday as the schedule moves around due to the weather.

Washington enters the WCWS with a 43-13 record and is coming off back-to-back victories over Louisiana in the Seattle Super Regional. The Huskies are preparing to take on a Utah team that defeated them in the Pac-12 Tournament, 8-4, last month.

The Utes dropped their first Super Regional game against San Diego State, but rallied for two straight victories to punch their ticket to the WCWS. After beating Washington in the Pac-12 Tournament semifinals, Utah defeated UCLA in the championship game to not only end the Bruins’ winning streak, but bring a title back to Salt Lake City.

Florida State and Oklahoma State were squaring off in the third WCWS game of the day. In the first matchup between Alabama and Tennessee, the Lady Vols took a commanding lead before the Crimson Tide came back to tighten things up. Ultimately, though, Tennessee came out with the 10-5 victory to set up a marquee matchup with Oklahoma on Saturday.

The Sooners won their 48th consecutive game Thursday in a close, 2-0 victory over Stanford. The game was scoreless until the fifth inning when Jayda Coleman hit a single to left field and advanced to second base on an error by the left fielder. As a result, Stanford will take on Alabama Friday.
