Would you call Duke the clear leader for 5-star Bryson Tucker?
Bryson Tucker is the 2024 On3 Consensus No. 4 ranked player. The 6-foot-6 guard is still running a bit under the radar due mostly to the fact he does not play AAU.
“I would call myself a three-level scorer,” Tucker told On3. “I’ve got a nice middle game, my floater and pull-up, and I can finish at the rim. I watch a lot of Len Bias and his mid-range, the way he rises up and shoots over people. I’m a big guard like Penny Hardaway, so I watch some of him.”
The u17 USA training camp invitee had a busy June 15th as On3’s Joe Tipton reported calls from Duke, Georgetown, North Carolina, Villanova, Virginia Tech, and Iowa. On3 sat down with the five-star at the USA facility to see which schools they were hearing the most from.
“I have not visited any campuses yet. We probably hear the most from Duke, Georgetown, and Iowa,” Tucker said.
Tucker talks recruitment
Duke: “They have a lot of pros that came through there. They say they want me there. I look at their program and all the success they have had, and that is the main thing with them.”
Iowa: “The main thing I know about them is Keegan Murray; he’s about to be a top-five pick. I can compare myself with his game a little bit. They have a good coach; he kept the conversation going when I was on the phone with him. It was a good talk. But Keegan Murray is the main thing with them.”

Georgetown: “Georgetown is big, especially where I’m from. And their coach is a top-ten big of all time, an NBA All-Star, that’s big time. When I first got that call, I mean it was Patrick Ewing talking to me.”
Tucker’s take
I’m looking for a coach who knows me for me,” Tucker said. “I can fit into their program, on the ball or off the ball. I want to have a relationship with the coach; communication is big. If I do something wrong, just tell me.
“A like a more fast-paced game, but I can play in any style, so that won’t matter as much to me. Coaching-wise, you don’t want an over-the-top coach or someone with too low energy. I want to play for a coach that falls right in the middle.”
