Hoover (Ala.) three-star wide receiver Jonah Winston told On3 last month that a handful of schools were standing out so far in his recruitment.

Winston, the younger brother of NFL quarterback and Florida State Heisman winner Jameis Winston, said that Florida StateAuburnUCF and Ole Miss were his favorite schools. The Seminoles and Tigers offered him this fall, along with more recent options at UAB, Missouri, Georgia State and Memphis, among others.

He is now looking to set up a couple of visits and told On3 that he plans to trip to both Auburn and Florida State in the upcoming months. The 5-foot-10, 155-pounder visited the ‘Noles in October and is very familiar with the program after his brother’s time in Tallahassee.

“The one thing that makes FSU more unique than the other schools is I basically grew up at FSU,” Winston previously told Warchant. “That’s where the game really started for me.”

Jameis won the Heisman Trophy and BCS National Championship in 2013 at FSU. Since moving onto professional football, Winston has also earned NFL Pro Bowl honors and led the league in passing yards in 2019.

The younger Winston started his career as a quarterback but has moved over to wide receiver, where he was a dynamic playmaker for Alabama powerhouse Hoover last season. He led the Buccaneers in receptions, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns this season with 38 catches for 542 yards and three scores. He also carried the ball 21 times for 152 yards and five touchdowns.

Winston is the nation’s No. 419 overall prospect in the 2026 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking — a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He also ranks as the No. 62 wide receiver in the class and the No. 18 recruit from the state of Alabama.
