WR Teriq Mallory flips to Florida State from West Virginia: ‘Florida State showed me so much love’

Cheshire (Conn.) Cheshire Academy three-star wide receiver Teriq Mallory received an offer from Florida State on Nov. 20. Since then, the Seminoles have been speaking daily with the West Virginia commit.
Mallory spent last weekend on an official visit to Florida State and began the trip still pledged to the Mountaineers. By the end of it, the 6-foot-5, 185-pound wideout knew he wanted to be in Tallahassee for his college football career. A few days after returning home from the Sunshine State, Mallory has flipped to Florida State from West Virginia.
“The official visit was very big in my decision,” Mallory told On3. “Florida State showed me so much love and the visit helped me get closer to coach Mike Norvell.”
Florida State ‘felt like home’ to Mallory
Mallory feels like the Seminoles have been recruiting him heavily for a couple of months. That effort paid off for Norvell and Co., as the No. 11 player in Connecticut is the newest member of Florida State’s 2025 recruiting class.

“Two of the main reasons why I chose Florida State are the culture and the education,” said Mallory, On3’s No. 165 wide receiver in the 2025 cycle. “It felt like home from the second that I stepped on campus.”
The Seminoles finished the 2024 season with a 2-10 record. Yet Mallory is confident that Norvell will turn things around at Florida State.
“I believe that coach Norvell is a great coach,” Mallory said. “I like that he played wide receiver and has coached great wide receivers, so he knows what it takes to be great. His mindset, passion for the game and coaching style are some other things I like.”
