The WWE is set to unveil branded championship belts for some of the top programs in college athletics, similar to collaborations they’ve done in the past with the NFL and MLB, among others.

ESPN’s Pete Thamel shared some news on the revelation, including a photo of an Alabama-themed title belt, to social media on Friday morning. Check it out below.

“The WWE is set to unveil branded title belts for a number of top college programs, including Georgia, Alabama, Texas, Michigan, Ohio State, Notre Dame and LSU,” Thamel wrote. “The WWE’s collegiate legacy title belts are in line with what they’ve done in the NFL and MLB.

“The list of schools involved also includes Colorado, Oklahoma, West Virginia, Penn State, North Carolina, Michigan State, Nebraska, Florida State, Florida, Tennessee, Miami, Oregon and Kentucky.”

Last season, the WWE partnered with the Big 12 Conference, and their presence at the Big 12 title game was prominent. The legendary Undertaker joined the Texas Longhorns on stage after their win, presenting the team with a Big 12 themed championship belt in an awesome moment.

Additionally, a number of WWE superstars were on hand for the event, like former world champions Sheamus and Drew McIntyre, and up-and-coming stars like Jade Cargill.

Now, the WWE has taken their partnership with numerous college programs to the next level, and they’ll be selling themed title belts for a number of programs. They’ll certainly be a hot-ticket item when they officially go on sale ahead of the college football season.

Notre Dame uses WWE star Sheamus to announce green jersey game for 2024

Meanwhile, this isn’t the only WWE venture into the world of college sports this week, as Notre Dame used WWE star Sheamus to announce that they’ll be wearing green jerseys on September 28th, 2024 against Louisville

In the video that Notre Dame posted, head coach Marcus Freeman called Sheamus and he invited him to the game, which Sheamus seemed excited for before asking for a dress code. The answer to that was a simple one, Irish wear green.

You can watch the video of Freeman calling Sheamus to announce the green jersey game, here:

“I’ve got plenty of green, Coach,” Sheamus said, clapping his hands. “Plenty of green. Probably enough green for everybody in that stadium. So, I’ll be there.”

The green jersey game has become a tradition at Notre Dame to wear special green jerseys, instead of the traditional home navy, when a particularly challenging opponent comes to town. Last season, that meant wearing green when Ohio State came to town. That game ended in a loss. Notre Dame also lost its game on the road against Louisville last season. So, finding a way to get the Cardinals back while wearing their green uniforms is going to be on the minds of the Irish.

For his part, Sheamus makes sense for Notre Dame to give a call given their team nickname and the ties that has created with the Irish. After all, Sheamus himself is from Dublin and grew up playing GAA sports like Gaelic football. He got into wrestling, creating a character based on Celtic myth.
