Wyoming defensive tackle Gavin Meyer is expected to enter the NCAA transfer portal as a graduate transfer, his agent Miles Jordan told On3’s Pete Nakos. He was a key piece of the Cowboys’ defensive line the last two seasons.

Meyer appeared in 26 games over the last two years but put up his best numbers in 2022. That’s when he had 40 tackles, including five tackles for loss, to go with four sacks and a forced fumble. In 2023, Meyer totaled 26 tackles and 3.5 tackles for loss as a senior.

Gavin Meyer played high school football at Franklin (Wis.) High School, where he was a three-star prospect. He was the No. 1,899 overall recruit in the 2020 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

The On3 Transfer Portal Instagram account and Twitter account are excellent resources to stay up to date with the latest moves.

The spring transfer portal window is just 15 days from April 16-30, a crammed period that could reshape the 2024 college football offseason. The portal tool launched in 2018 to allow athletes to be more involved in the process of transferring. Athletes must notify institutions of their intent to transfer. Each school’s compliance team has 48 hours to put a name into the portal.

For graduate transfers, it’s a little different. The NCAA released updated transfer legislation that allowed grad transfers to file their paperwork by the end of the day Wednesday. That means names can continue showing up in the portal as late as Friday.

“Due to the timing of the adoption of Proposal No. 2024-5, postgraduate student-athletes in football, women’s ice hockey, rife, skiing, women’s swimming and diving and indoor track and field have until May 1, 2024, to provide written notice of transfer in order to be entered into the transfer portal before the start of the 2024-25 academic year,” the memo stated.
