Xavier transfer SF Cam’Ron Fletcher has signed with High Point, On3’s Pete Nakos reported. Fletcher is the ex-boyfriend of current Chicago Sky and former LSU star Angel Reese.

Fletcher played in just 11 games for the Musketeers this past season after transferring in from Florida State. He suffered an ACL injury the year prior in 2023-24 with the Seminoles that limited him to just seven games.

Fletcher is a former four-star prospect out of Vashon High School in St. Louis, Missouri. He ranked as the No. 63 overall player and No. 17 small forward in the 2020 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking,  a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Fletcher originally committed to Kentucky and played his true freshman season with the Wildcats. He appeared in only nine games before transferring to Florida State ahead of 2021-22.

The 6-foot-7 wing played 29 games during his first season in Tallahassee, the most he has in any of his five college seasons. He averaged 6.8 points and 3.4 rebounds per game while shooting 47.5% from the floor.

Fletcher started off his junior season on pace for a career year in 2022-23, averaging 10.8 points and 7.5 rebounds. Unfortunately, he would suffer a season-ending injury in December that limited him to only 10 games.

It’s been a rough past few seasons for Fletcher, who can’t seem to catch a break when it comes to staying healthy. But he showed plenty of promise during the early part of his career at Florida State and can hopefully recapture that with an up-and-coming High Point team.

The Panthers made their first ever Division I NCAA Tournament appearance this past season after finishing 29-6 and winning the Big South Tournament. They earned a No. 13 seed and would go on to lose in the first round to Purdue, but perhaps Fletcher can find a role and help them continue their success.

The college basketball transfer portal officially opened for business on Monday, March 24, and will close 30 days later on Tuesday, April 22. As of this writing, more than 1,000 players had already entered their names.

Last spring alone, 1,962 Division I players tested the portal waters. Based on the early numbers from this year, even more could follow. For the first time in history, more than half of the points scored in college basketball were scored by players from the transfer portal, not high school, in the 2024-25 season.

In data gathered over the first two years with transfer windows, the NCAA found most athletes enter the portal within the first four weeks of the portal opening. The study showed that 73% of men’s and women’s basketball undergraduate athletes entered during the first four weeks. That increased to 82% for men and 86% for women in 2024.
