Yohan Traore, 2022 five-star, no longer considering pro options
College fans received some exciting news yesterday regarding, Yohan Traore, the top available big man in the 2022 class. Traore told On3 he will no longer consider professional opportunities and plans to attend college.
This is significant news considering the pro option was a serious contender for Traore.
The 6-foot-11 power forward out of Paris (France) Dream City Christian has taken four official visits – Michigan, Memphis, Texas Tech, and Kansas. Originally, the plan was to take his fifth official visit to either UCLA or Texas.
Now, that no longer appears to be the case. There is a new contender Traore’s recruitment – the Kentucky Wildcats. Traore said Kentucky assistant Jai Lucas reached out to him about a week ago. The Wildcats have yet to offer but if they do, Traore plans to take his fifth and final official visit to UK.
It’s still uncertain whether or not Kentucky will offer Traore, as they are still feeling things out. But if a scholarship offer is extended, I expect the Kentucky Wildcats to immediately become a serious contender, if not the favorite to land Traore.
Traore discusses his four official visits
Texas Tech: “Great atmosphere. I have a good relationship with the coaches. I love the way they play. They play through their bigs so I would definitely have a chance to shine.”

Michigan: “I have a great relationship with Juwan Howard. I love the way they play and they have my boy Moussa Diabate from France so I think we can be good. I’ve been talking to him about Michigan and he just says ‘you gotta work hard and you can earn your place.'”
Memphis: “I think I can learn a lot. Larry Brown is over there, Penny Hardaway, Rasheed Wallace, so I think it could be a great place too.”
Kansas: “The atmosphere man…I went to see their opening game and it was a great atmosphere. I love the players, they made me feel like I was family. I like the way they play too, they play through their bigs so I feel like it could be a good place too.”
No timetable for a decision
Yohan Traore says he has “no idea” when he will make a decision, but says “it’ll be pretty soon for sure.”
