Report: Zaire Wade signs with Utah Jazz G-League affiliate
Former Sierra Canyon (Calif.) 2021 prospect Zaire Wade, the son of NBA legend Dwyane Wade, has signed a deal with the Utah Jazz’s G-League affiliate, according to The Athletic’s Shams Charania.
The elder Wade is a part-owner of the Jazz, and his son is expected to join the Salt Lake City Stars.
As a prep, Zaire Wade was ranked as a consensus three-star prospect and held offers from Nebraska, South Carolina, Toledo and Rhode Island. After playing alongside Bronny James, the son of NBA star LeBron James, at Sierra Canyon, Wade reclassified to the 2021 class. He transferred in April 2020 to New Hampshire’s Brewster Academy but remain unsigned after the end of the 2021 recruiting cycle.
Zaire Wade played on a loaded Sierra Canyon team
A major factor in his decision to transfer away from Sierra Canyon was a lack of playing time. Dwyane told TNT’s ‘Inside the NBA’ in March 2020 that he wouldn’t be attending Sierra Canyon’s state championship game because of his son’s role on the team.

“I will not be there,” Wade said. “My son isn’t playing, and I don’t want to do nothing to the coach [Andre Chevalier]. I won’t be there. But I’ll be rooting for the kids.”
Along with Bronny James, the Trailblazers 2020 roster featured five-star prospects Ziaire Williams and B.J. Boston, four-star 2021 prospect Terren Frank and 2022 five-star and UCLA commit Amari Bailey. Zaire Wade averaged 4.3 points per game for Sierra Canyon, but drew plenty of attention and notoriety as the son of a former NBA legend.
