Zakai Zeigler, a 5-foot-10 point guard out of the Bronx (N.Y.) Immaculate Conception has committed to Tennessee basketball for the class of 2021, he tells On3.

Zeigler is the Volunteer’s eighth commitment in the class, including Auburn transfer Justin Powell. Tennessee has also landed PG Kennedy Chandler, PF Brandon Huntley-Hatfield, C Jonas Aidoo, SF Jahmai Mashack, SG Quentin Diboundje, and C Handje Tamba.

Tennessee will have eight newcomers this year. The Volunteers return John Fulkerson, Victor Bailey Jr., Santiago Vescovi, Josiah Jordan-James, among others. Tennessee has a top-5 recruiting class of 2021 and is likely a preseason top-25 team.

Zakai Zeigler on why he chose Tennessee

“I just felt really comfortable with the coaching staff and being around them,” Zeigler said. “They made me feel like I was at home and being under Coach (Rick) Barnes…I already know what he could do for me. He has put smaller guards in the NBA and has helped them be successful at the next level. I feel I could be the next one that he could do so with. He’s a legend and his name speaks for itself.”
