The Billiken Victory Fund was launched as a nonprofit organization in February 2023 with a primary focus on the men’s basketball program, according to former Billiken basketball player and collective president Troy Robertson. The collective has received official blessing and support from the SLU athletic department. “We’re going to encourage people to support it,” SLU athletics director Chris May told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. “The NIL space is another layer for the community to support student-athletes. It’s a critically important initiative.” Robertson said the collective has already solicited “substantial” donations from businesses and individuals. “I would say we have real money at this point,” he told the Post-Dispatch. “It’s not enough where we can play with the big boys. Our goal is to get as much as possible to invest in student-athletes and make the program as competitive as possible…. I’m comfortable saying we will have all the money we need.”
