JULY 13, 2023 UPDATE: It’s unclear whether or not The Big Red Collaborative is still actively operating. The collective’s website and social media accounts have not been updated since early 2023. PREVIOUS INFORMATION: Prominent Nebraska supporters and former athletes announced the launch of the Big Red Collaborative, a NIL collective that will secure opportunities for Nebraska student-athletes, in September 2022. The collective says it’s poised to “support hundreds of Husker athletes across all sports through a model that generates maximum benefits for all stakeholders.” The Big Red Collaborative differentiates itself by establishing a 501(c)(3) public charity that is geared to provide benefits to non-profit organizations. Nebraska student-athletes will leverage their NIL to promote and benefit these charities, bringing increased visibility and participation that would not have existed otherwise. The Big Red Collaborative will also encourage student athlete education in the areas of financial literacy, wealth planning and entrepreneurship.
