The Paradise Collective was founded in January 2023 by Chuck Toman, an orthopedic surgeon who started the group with the blessing from FAU athletic director Brian White. Partnered with Kevin Koscso, the group raised more than $65,000 in the week leading up to FAU’s run to the 2023 Final Four. Along with supporting basketball, The Paradise Collective plans on working with the Owls’ football program, and student’s will earn compensation for performing community service for charities and promoting local business. The Paradise Collective also has plans on forming a 501(c)(3) nonprofit entity of the collective called the Paradise One Fund. “It’s fantastic [FAU has] that much support,” Toman told Sports Illustrated. “It’s going to be tough in the world of college sports with programs that have megadonors, but I’ve tried to encourage our local folks with the ability to do that to step up. In Boca Raton, we should be fantastic at this. A lot of people who make a lot of money spend a lot of time here.”
