BYU quarterback Jaren Hall uses NIL for an anti-bullying campaign
BYU quarterback Jaren Hall has plenty of access to NIL deals. He’s now using NIL in a unique way to help with an anti-bullying campaign.
Along with his wife and daughter, he posted on Instagram to announce a partnership with Default Happiness, a clothing brand founded by BYU guard Trey Stewart. The goal behind Stewart’s company is to change the stigma around mental health in sports.
“KINDNESS COUNTS excited for the future working alongside @defaulthappiness to bring a positive message to the community. LEARN. LOVE. OVERCOME. Visit @defaulthappiness to learn more about the ‘kindness counts’ initiative and clothing drop coming soon! Let’s make a difference together,” Hall posted to Instagram.
Default Happiness sells apparel like T-shirts and sweatshirts. They typically have smiley faces and positive messages printed across them.
“I wanted to work with athletes at our school to promote things that are important to them,” Stewart told KSL Sports.

“It’s the first-ever athlete-owned company signing other athletes. With Jaren, we’re going to do an anti-bullying campaign because that means a lot to him.”
Jaren Hall’s NIL deal with Default Happiness will directly promote an anti-bullying campaign. That campaign will include a special T-shirt. The shirt reads, “Kindness counts,” on the front, and “Learn. Love. Overcome,” on the back. They announced that money from the sales of this shirt will go towards making a change, but did not get into any specifics.
Jaren Hall and NIL
As a quarterback at a program with a national fanbase like BYU, Hall has plenty of access to NIL opportunities. A former three-star recruit, Hall notably chose BYU over rival Utah. All of this has helped Jaren Hall find access to new NIL opportunities.
Along with opportunities like this new anti-bullying campaign, Jaren Hall has NIL deals with the likes of Utah Warriors and has even used Instagram to help his offensive line get its own NIL deal.
