Quinn Ewers is no longer an Ohio State Buckeye, therefore he is “no longer powered by Ricart.”

In a new parody video released by Rick Ricart of Ricart Automotive, a Columbus family-owned car dealership, Ewers and his former sponsor are shown parting ways as Ewers heads back to his home state of Texas after taking just two snaps in an Ohio State uniform.

Ewers partnered with the dealership in August shortly after the announcement that he would forgo his senior year of high school and head to Columbus as an early enrollee.

“I thought to myself, ‘This is the No. 1-rated recruit in the history of (Ohio State),’” Ricart said this summer, via Forbes. “With a generational talent, and the potential that (Ewers) has and what he can do for this city — national championships, Heisman Trophy race, and the impact he can have on the community with his influence and his outreach… He’s a good representation for our brand and the university.”

Ricart has also partnered with Ohio State’s Garrett Wilson, TreVeyon Henderson, Dawand Jones and Sevyn Banks.

Ewers to visit Texas

Ewers has not chosen his next destination, but he has reportedly limited his options to Texas and Texas Tech. He will visit Austin this weekend.

Per On3’s Gerry Hamilton, Ewers recently eliminated TCU from his list, and sources believe he could decide his next destination by Monday. The former No. 1 overall player in the 2021 class according to the On3 Consensus Rankings was spotted in Lubbock on Sunday.

Ewers is intimately familiar with the Texas program, as he was once committed to the Longhorns. The high-level prospect has NFL aspirations, so interest in playing under offensive guru and Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian is unsurprising.

Per Justin Wells of Inside Texas, upon hearing the news Ewers was in the transfer portal, Sarkisian immediately went to Southlake Carroll (Texas) High School to visit with Ewers and his parents. The meeting lasted at least three hours.

The Dallas native took just two snaps for the Buckeyes this season before electing to enter the transfer portal. Current quarterback and Heisman finalist C.J. Stroud will be in Columbus for at least one more year, so Ewers likely would not have gotten much playing time.

According to Hamilton, name, image and likeness opportunities are likely not a factor driving Ewers’ decision; he has reportedly already made in the in excess of $1 million from previous partnerships. Ewers just wants to see the field as soon as possible, making a Texas team that dealt with uncertainty at the quarterback position this season a prime destination.
