Commonwealth NIL announces new subscription service
Commonwealth NIL is a collective with the goal of supporting Virginia Tech athletics. On Wednesday, they announced that they would be launching a new subscription service.
This subscription service is similar to that of the Spyre Sports Group at Tennessee. Investors make monthly payments into one of three different tiers to help the collective’s NIL effort. Commonwealth NIL has labeled these tiers as Walk-on, All-American, and Campus Legend. Based on the level that you invest at, there will be different benefits that you receive. The goal of this service is to make sure that investors are involved and that student-athletes have access to NIL opportunities in the future at Virginia Tech.
Commonwealth NIL is a local company that is affiliated with Gentry Locke Attorneys, which has multiple locations throughout Virginia. To this point, they have been raising money for NIL contracts in the Commonwealth of Virginia. It was founded by Nick and Forrest Rush.
Forrest Rush said, “When we started Commonwealth NIL, we knew that in order to be successful we had to engage all of Hokie Nation. That’s why we are excited to announce our subscription service which allows all Hokie fans to participate in NIL activities.”
What is Tech Sideline?
One of the benefits that subscribers can receive is membership to Techsideline.com. It’s a Virginia Tech athletics website that has been operating for 25 years and has an active message board. Having that subscription will give fans all the information they could need about Virginia Tech athletics.

The reason why Commonwealth NIL is able to offer subscriptions to Tech Sideline is the new partnership between the two. Nick Rush said, “By partnering with Techsideline.com, which has been the online leader in providing VT Sports entertainment and commentary since 1996, we will be able to reach Hokie Nation far outside of the Blacksburg town limits.”
What’s next for Commonwealth NIL?
Commonwealth NIL is looking to continue to expand its operations. They plan on signing athletes, scheduling events, and releasing new products. They’re also in the process of aligning with local charities to continue their NIL work.
Among the charities that Commonwealth NIL is partnering with are Buddy Check 22 and the Gaye Whitaker Memorial Fund. Buddy Check 22 works with veterans. Their primary goal is to give aid to veterans and prevent suicide in them. Meanwhile, the Gaye Whitaker Memorial Fund helps women who are battling cancer.
The NIL landscape is ever-changing, though. Collectives like Commonwealth NIL are going to need to adapt with the times and stay up to date on changes in the law.
