Through the first 17 games of his freshman season at Duke, Cooper Flagg continues to live up to the billing as a highly touted recruit. Friday, he also made a splash in the NIL space.

Flagg inked an exclusive multi-year NIL deal with Fanatics and Fanatics Collectibles, the company announced, and will receive a Topps Bowman Card as part of the agreement. With a $4.3 million On3 NIL Valuation, he’s one of the biggest stars in college basketball while leading Duke in every major statistical category

As part of the announcement, Duke legend Grant Hill voiced over a video titled, “Welcome to the Family” as Flagg came aboard. The partnership includes autographs and game-worn memorabilia, as well.

“No journey is a straight line,” Hill said in the video. “Skill alone won’t get you to where you want to be. You’re now walking alongside some of the greatest to ever do it. Legends are established over time, and your story starts here. Welcome to the family.”

Flagg is widely considered the No. 1 overall prospect in the upcoming NBA Draft and is the focal point of Duke’s attack. Through 17 games, he’s averaging 18.7 points, 8.2 rebounds, 4.1 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.2 blocks – leading the Blue Devils in each category. He also set the ACC freshman record with 42 points in Duke’s 86-78 victory over Notre Dame on Jan. 11.

Repped by CAA, Cooper Flagg also blazing a trail in the NIL space. In addition to his partnership with Fanatics, he has notable deals with New Balance and Gatorade as part of his portfolio. It’s part of his growing profile as he takes the college basketball world by storm.

Flagg’s $4.3 million On3 NIL Valuation ranks No. 1 in the men’s college basketball NIL rankings. He also sits at No. 4 in the On3 NIL 100, the first of its kind and defacto NIL ranking of the top 100 high school and college athletes ranked by their On3 NIL Valuation.

“Despite what some fans and media believe, there is not an unlimited amount of money being deployed to manage rosters,” said Shannon Terry, the founder and CEO of On3. “Any model – whether it’s today’s broken NCAA ‘student-athlete’ construct or media rights sharing through employment, which is almost a certainty in the near future – demands efficiency based on the athlete and school knowing the athlete’s respective market value.”

The On3 NIL Valuation is calculated by combining Roster Value and personal NIL. Roster value is the value an athlete has by being a member of his or her team at his or her school, which factors into the role of NIL collectives. NIL in an athlete’s name, image and likeness and the value it could bring to regional and national brands outside of the scope of NIL collectives.
