Maryland center Derik Queen is embracing his name in his latest NIL deal. Queen has inked an endorsement deal with Dairy Queen.

A former five-star recruit, Queen banked-in a fadeaway jumper for a 72-71 victory over No. 12 seed Colorado State over the weekend to send the Terrapins to the Sweet 16. Queen’s 15 double-doubles are the most by a Maryland freshman since 1993-94.

As part of the endorsement deal with Dairy Queen, the Maryland star will be in a handful of videos promoting the brand and the Blizzard. According to Cllct, Queen shot the video for the deal in a San Francisco hotel ahead of Maryland’s Sweet 16 game against No. 1 seed Florida on Thursday night. He is promoting the chocolate-dipped pecan and caramel treat turtle blizzard, playing off of the Maryland mascot.

Details of the agreement were not disclosed, but the agreement was negotiated by PlayFly and Maryland’s One Maryland NIL Collective. Queen has gone viral after making the game-winner and what Maryland head coach Kevin Willard said after the game.

“I asked everybody. I said, ‘Who wants the ball?'” Willard said. “He said, ‘Give me the MF ball.’ I said, ‘Alright, you’re getting it.'”

Derik Queen, Maryland’s leading scorer and rebounder this season, led the Terps again with 17 points, six rebounds and two blocks in the one-point win over Colorado State. The Baltimore native is viewed as an NBA lottery pick.

The Maryland forward has an On3 NIL Valuation of $863,000 and nearly 60,000 social media followers. He has signed NIL deals with TurboTax, Stanley and DoorDash in the last month. The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that sets the standard market NIL value for high school and college athletes. A proprietary algorithm, the On3 NIL Valuation calculates an athlete’s NIL value using dynamic data points targeting three primary categories: performance, influence and exposure.
