The golf training system company SuperSpeed Golf announced Wednesday it entered into an NIL agreement with Ohio State golfer Maxwell Moldovan. Moldovan is currently ranked No. 4 in the Golfweek/AmateurGolf.com World Rankings.

He is also competing in the U.S. Open for the second year in a row. The 123rd U.S. Open will be held at the Los Angeles Country Club. The first round starts Thursday.

SuperSpeed Golf says it has helped hundreds of thousands of golfers, including more than 700 professional players, through its training systems to help golfers maximize their swing speed.

“I am so excited to partner with SuperSpeed and their great line of products,” Moldovan said in a statement. “I have been very focused on getting faster and stronger over the last few years and I have already seen the benefits in my game. I know that the team at SuperSpeed will help me continue to improve moving forward, which is extremely exciting.”

Through his agreement with SuperSpeed Golf, Moldovan will “engage with the SuperSpeed community” on social media, according to a news release. He’ll offer perspective into the importance of swing speed, offseason training and how to prepare to become a professional golfer.

PGA Tour player Pádraig Harrington, who has won three times in the PGA Tour’s four major championships and who’s currently ranked No. 226 in the Official World Golf Rankings, is also a SuperSpeed Golf ambassador.

“Holy smokes,” he said, laughing. “Oh, I’ve been waiting for this for a full week. Thank you. Had to mess with me a little bit.”

“We are delighted to welcome Maxwell Moldovan to our team,” SuperSpeed Golf President Mike Napoleon said in a statement. “His extraordinary talent, coupled with his passion for the game, aligns perfectly with our mission. As he prepares for some major events this summer ahead of his senior season at Ohio State, we look forward to supporting his journey and witnessing his continued growth.”

As a junior, Moldovan was named a second-team PING All-American. He also earned unanimous first-team All-Big Ten accolades for the second season in a row. Moldovan was named Big Ten Men’s Golfer of the Week twice during the 2022-23 season.

Moldovan set Ohio State’s single-season scoring record for the third season in a row. His average score last season was 70.64, which bested his previous record by almost half a stroke. He owns the program record for most rounds in the 60s in a career with 38 rounds, including 16 last season.

Moldovan qualified for the 122nd U.S. Open in 2022 but he missed the cut by four strokes after shooting a 7-over 147 through the first two rounds.
