North Carolina commit Ian Jackson promotes Air Jordan 'Skyline' sneaker in NIL deal with Extra Butter
Ian Jackson became one of the first high school athletes in New York City to sign an NIL deal in December 2021.
Now the North Carolina basketball commit is promoting the latest Air Jordan sneaker. The five-star prospect and No. 4 overall player in the 2024 recruiting class according to the On3 Industry Ranking has signed an NIL deal with Extra Butter.
Through the partnership with the New York boutique and independent lifestyle brand, Jackson is promoting the new Air Jordan 1 “Skyline” sneakers. The Jordan Brand has tapped Extra Butter to be its East Coast partner and the first store to launch the Skylines.
The sneaker pays tribute to the photo of Michael Jordan prior to the 1984 Olympics, with him striking the Jumpman pose with the Chicago skyline in the background. The shoe design features a purple to pink gradient color scheme, with black and white accents. The box is also styled to match the sneakers.
The Air Jordan 1 Skyline dropped Friday at Extra Butter for $180.
A Nike representative confirmed in an email to On3 that Jackson has not signed with the Jordan Brand. UCLA’s Kiki Rice and 2024 recruit Kiyomi McMiller are the only two athletes to sign NIL partnerships with the shoe brand.
Aligning with Extra Butter is a smart move for Jackson. The boutique has two locations around New York City and has over 460,000 Instagram followers. Jackson is the No. 2 shooting guard in the 2024 class.
Ian Jackson’s growing NIL brand
The 6-foot-5 shooting guard out of the Bronx committed to North Carolina in January. The junior at Cardinal Hayes chose the Tar Heels over offers from Kentucky, Oregon, LSU and Arkansas. He also signed with with Octagon for NIL representation in January.
Octagon’s basketball division has clients including Bam Adebayo, Giannis Antetokounmpo and Steph Curry. The agency has started to make waves in the name, image and likeness world, signing women’s basketball stars Aliyah Boston and Hailey Van Lith.

The North Carolina commit currently holds a $311,000 On3 NIL Valuation. The valuation sits right outside of the On3 NIL 100 but it does rank No. 20 in high school basketball.
Jackson already has a strong social media following, with 56,000 followers off of Twitter and Instagram.
The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that sets the standard market NIL value for high school and college athletes. A proprietary algorithm, the On3 NIL Valuation calculates an athlete’s NIL value using dynamic data points targeting three primary categories: performance, influence and exposure.
About On3 NIL Valuation, Brand Value, Roster Value
While the algorithm includes deal data, it does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals athletes have completed to date, nor does it set an athlete’s NIL valuation for their entire career.
The On3 NIL Valuation accounts for an athlete’s roster value and brand value. Roster value is the value an athlete has by being a member of his or her team at his or her school, which factors into the role of NIL collectives. Brand value factors in an athlete’s personal brand and the value it could bring to regional and national brands outside of the scope of NIL collectives.
