Ohio State's Carnell Tate signs with Rosenhaus Sports for NIL representation
Carnell Tate has impressed early this spring at Ohio State.
The former four-star wide receiver has shown off his potential. He also was the first member of the Buckeyes’ 2023 recruiting class to lose his black stripe, only a few days into spring ball.
Tate might not be a starter come September, but there’s little doubt he will be a contributor. The Bradenton (Florida) IMG Academy product will start reaping the benefits of his on-field play in NIL soon, too. It’s why he has brought on Rosenhaus Sports (RSR) for NIL representation.
“I am extremely excited to announce that I will be signing with Rosenhaus Sports for NIL representation,” he wrote on Twitter on Thursday night.
Established in 1988 by Drew Rosenhaus, the agency is one of the leaders in NFL representation. Since 2004, Rosenhaus Sports has negotiated over 1,100 contracts worth more than $8 billion. Its list of NFL clients includes Tyreek Hill, Aaron Jones and Chris Olave.
Rosenhaus has ramped up its activity in the name, image and likeness space in the last 21 months. Tate is the second Ohio State wide receiver to sign with RSR in recent months. Fellow 2023 receiver Brandon Inniss brought on Rosenhaus in February.
RSR has seven staffers solely focused on finding NIL opportunities for athletes. Miami’s Tyler Van Dyke and Michigan’s J.J. McCarthy — two quarterback prospects to watch in the 2024 NFL Draft — are the faces of the NIL division.
The No. 8 wide receiver in the 2023 class, Ohio State held off Notre Dame and Tennessee to land Tate. He has already seen some NIL opportunities fall his way. Within days of enrolling at Ohio State, he signed an agreement with The Foundation. He’ll be at the NIL collective‘s event later this month.

His NIL value will only rise with his play.
“I would say he’s being well-detailed,” Ohio State offensive coordinator Brian Hartline said last month. “I would say that he’s doing a pretty good job of taking meetings to the field. We talk about techniques, we talk about the details of every play, and he’s pretty consistent on hitting those. Probably the best thing he has done is just the ability to make a mistake, correct it and then move on from it. He very rarely has repeated mistakes. And that’s usually a pretty good sign of a good player, a guy that’s about his business.”
Carnell Tate’s On3 NIL Valuation
With a noteworthy social media following of 57,000, it’s fair to say Carnell Tate has already started to build a solid brand. In an NIL marketplace that favors social media followings just as much as the on-field profile, Tate won’t have to look hard to find opportunities.
He also has a $241,000 On3 NIL Valuation, which ranks in the top 200 of the college football NIL rankings.
The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that sets the standard market NIL value for high school and college athletes. A proprietary algorithm, the On3 NIL Valuation calculates an athlete’s NIL value using dynamic data points targeting three primary categories: performance, influence and exposure.
About On3 NIL Valuation, Brand Value, Roster Value
While the algorithm includes deal data, it does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals athletes have completed to date, nor does it set an athlete’s NIL valuation for their entire career. The On3 NIL Valuation calculates the optimized NIL opportunity for athletes relative to the overall NIL market and projects out to as long as 12 months into the future.
