Ohio State QB CJ Stroud featured on trading card as part of new NIL deal
Ohio State quarterback CJ Stroud has one of the highest On3 NIL Valuations in college sports. And that value continues to be buoyed by deals like the one with Onyx Authenticated.
Onyx Authenticated announced Monday it’s released new sports cards featuring Stroud, the Buckeyes’ star quarterback and an early favorite for the 2022 Heisman Trophy. Financial details about the NIL deal between Onyx and Stroud were not immediately available. Sources say the company is also working on deals and trading cards with players from Texas and Alabama.
The Stroud card series was designed by Joe Johnson. Johnson previously worked with several college football programs as a graphic designer. He’s now primarily working now for Onyx Authenticated. Company president Lance Fisher says Johnson’s modern artistic mind has established a new product line for Onyx.
That creativity can be clearly seen in the CJ Stroud trading cards that feature him in a Buckeye uniform ready to unleash a touchdown pass and on the back features the red X that marks out a certain letter of the alphabet. The cards also have a foil finish – which will help make the design pop and also identifies the rarity of the card.
“With the limitations of using school trademarks, we wanted to provide fans and collectors a trading card that defines CJ and the culture of the University,” Fisher said.
Onyx says the cards will go on sale at the end of June to the public.
Onyx also produces basketball, baseball and football trading cards. The company is also a premier MLBPA licensed, MLB game-used retailer and product wholesaler. Onyx says its brand is synonymous with “high-quality products at affordable prices and trusted by collectors and consumers worldwide.”

CJ Stroud has massive On3 NIL Valuation
CJ Stroud – the former No. 3 quarterback in the Class of 2020 out of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif. – was a Heisman Trophy finalist in 2021. According to Vegas Insider, Stroud recently jumped Alabama’s Bryce Young to become the favorite for the Heisman Trophy in 2022. He also has the best odds to become the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 NFL draft.
CJ Stroud has an On3 NIL Valuation of $2.4 million. The On3 NIL Valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time. Stroud ranks No. 2 in the On3 College Football NIL Rankings and No. 5 in the On3 NIL 100.
The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
The On3 NIL 100 is the first of its kind and the defacto NIL ranking of the top 100 high school and college athletes ranked by market valuation.
