Oklahoma freshman defensive back Peyton Bowen has signed an NIL agreement with the collective Crimson and Cream. He announced the news Friday on Twitter.

Oklahoma lists Bowen at 6-feet and 191 pounds. He enrolled early in January after attending Guyer High School in Denton, Tex.

As a high school recruit, Bowen was ranked as one of the best prospects in the country. On3 ranked Bowen as the No. 15 prospect in the 2023 recruiting class, including the No. 2 safety and No. 2 player in Texas.

According to the On3 Industry Ranking, Bowen was also ranked No. 15 nationally and the No. 2 safety prospect. Three of the four major recruiting services, including On3, rated Bowen as a five-star prospect.

Bowen was named a 2022 Under Armour All-American as a high school senior. He was also a 2022 Mr. Texas Football semifinalist.

Bowen committed to Oklahoma on Dec. 22, 2022, a day after he publicly pledged to Oregon. He also received reported scholarship offers from programs including Alabama, Baylor, Florida State, LSU, Notre Dame, Ole Miss, Oregon, TCU, Texas and Texas A&M.

His high school teammate Jackson Arnold, who was rated as a Five-Star Plus+ quarterback as a recruit, committed to the Sooners in January 2022. Being able to continue playing with his former teammate played a role in Bowen’s decision. Arnold also recently announced that he signed an NIL agreement with Crimson and Cream.
