Report: NC State student-athletes earning $442 per NIL deal
According to a report, NC State’s student-athletes earn on average $442 per NIL transaction.
Brian Murphy of WRAL Sports reported through a public record request that up to May 19, 2022, there have been 80 total NIL deals for NC State athletes. Their overall value is $35,385.88, according to the report. Due to privacy concerns, the university has rejected offering any information on individual deals.
The total for NC State athletes might seem somewhat low. But it’s in line with what has been seen at schools like Kansas, where the average deal is $1,739.34. However, that number at Kansas is enlarged by the basketball team’s national championship run.
NC State and NIL
Like any other school, NC State has put a lot of effort into NIL. The idea is to position your school and your student-athletes for success in a new era of college athletics while playing within new rules. For instance, NC State uses the mobile app INFLCR for athletes to disclose their NIL deals.

A new NIL collective for NC State was also launched recently. It’s called Pack of Wolves, and it works in the same way that many collectives do. There is a tiered donation system, which gives those who donate different levels of extra access to the athletics programs. The money donated, in turn, goes towards NIL deals for student-athletes.
While NC State won’t be releasing the details of NIL deals any time soon, there have already been 80. However, most deals are clearly small and similar to the deals with Amedeo’s, a local restaurant, in the Summer of 2021. The money isn’t great, but it’s something for Wolfpack student-athletes.
