UCF star John Rhys Plumlee stays 'clean' through busy day in NIL ad for Dove Men
UCF star quarterback John Rhys Plumlee grabbed national headlines in the 2022 football season when he accounted for seven touchdowns in a 70-13 rout of Temple. In the game, he threw for 373 yards and four touchdowns and added another 37 yards on the ground with three scores.
Shortly after the game, the Hattiesburg, Mississippi, native’s stock climbed on social media. He now he has more than 92,000 followers, including 50,000 on Instagram alone.
Plumlee used his success on the field – including as a star outfielder on the UCF baseball team – coupled with his strong social media presence to strike a significant NIL agreement with Dove Men. The NIL deal was announced Wednesday and was facilitated by GSE Worldwide agent Jeff Weiner.
In the promotion, Plumlee takes viewers through a typical day in his life. He showcases how he stays clean with Dove Men products through a typical day that starts with football practice, continues with classroom time and finally ends with a lengthy baseball practice.
“If it works for your boy, then it’s going to work for you, too,” Plumlee says in the video after applying Dove Mens+Care Hand and Body Lotion.

NIL Deal didn’t feel like an ad for John Rhys Plumlee
John Rhys Plumlee said he was excited about his first opportunity to create a commercial that was featured on multiple social media platforms.
“It was cool working with Dove Men because I already use their products throughout the day,” Plumlee told On3. “It didn’t even feel like an ad.”
It’s the type of genuine content that advertisers covet and attracts eyeballs on social media.
Plumlee started his career at Ole Miss, where he juggled both baseball and football for three years before transferring to UCF. He’s currently batting .297 for the Knights, who are 17-12 on the season. Plumlee threw for 2,586 yards and 14 touchdowns during the 2022 season.
