Virginia Tech basketball players sign NIL deals with CMG Leasing
Virginia Tech men’s basketball players Darius Maddox, Justyn Mutts and Sean Pedulla have signed NIL deals with the customer service property management company CMG Leasing Wednesday, the sports marketing agency Triumph NIL announced Wednesday.
The trio “will leverage their NIL rights to promote specific CMG properties through a variety of personal appearances, content development programs, social media posts and live events,” according to a press release.
Last season, Virginia Tech’s men’s basketball team went 23-13, winning the ACC tournament after back-to-back wins over North Carolina and Duke. The Hokies earned a No. 11 seed in the NCAA tournament.
Mutts, a 6-foot-7 forward, ranked second on the team in scoring at 10.1 points per game. Maddox, a junior guard, ranked sixth at 6.4 points per game, while Pedulla was seventh at 5.4 points per game.
“My favorite thing about living with CMG are the cool perks you get as a resident,” Mutts said in a statement. “They have great resident socials, free Starbucks Coffee and snacks. Their communities are all conveniently located to campus and other hot spots in Blacksburg.”
Triumph NIL says it develops custom partnerships for athletes with fans and members of the business community. Former Virginia Tech football players Kevin Jones and Brenden Hill are among the Triumph NIL partners.
“We are pleased with the success of this partnership thus far,” Robyn Jones, Triumph NIL partner and COO, said in a statement. “The opportunities we have been able to provide our student-athletes, in partnership with CMG, have been engaging and well received.”

Triumph NIL continues efforts for Virginia Tech athletes
Triumph NIL, which was involved in a merger with the marketing agency Hot Route Marketing over the summer, is one of four marketing agencies or NIL collectives that supports Virginia Tech athletes.
The phrase NIL collectives is a catch-all term for various organizations, including marketing agencies, non-profit organizations and LLCs, that typically operate independent of the university whose athletes they support by facilitating NIL opportunities. You can view the On3 NIL collectives database here.
Triumph NIL has previously signed NIL agreements with more than 30 Virginia Tech football players, multiple wrestling standouts and several women’s soccer players. Its roster now includes 61 Virginia Tech athletes.
The marketing agency was also involved in co-branding Virginia Tech’s football equipment truck.
Over the summer, Triumph NIL said it was in the process of announcing marketing agreements worth roughly $500,000. You can view the latest NIL deals from across the country with the On3 NIL Deal Tracker.
