West Virginia football players use NIL to participate in youth camp
Thanks to NIL, several West Virginia football players were able to host a youth football camp this week.
The event was hosted by Country Roads Trust, a NIL Collective for West Virginia athletics. It also had a partnership with Diversified Energy. Among the athletes in attendance were JT Daniels, Justin Johnson and Zach Frazier.
Two free camps were held Monday at Mylan Park in Morgantown, W.V. Around 75 elementary and middle school-aged students attended the football camps. The two camps were broken into two separate three-hour block periods. The first, which took place in the morning, was for offensive skills position players. Then, the second was for linemen and defensive players.
More events that allow West Virginia student-athletes to use their NIL like this are being planned for the future.
“I’ve collaborated with Diversified Energy on several community tie-ins over the years and this camp –free to kids around the state — will be one of the more fun and engaging ones we’ve done,” said Stephen Ford, COO of Country Roads Trust, in a press release.

Along with running the camps, players signed autographs for the children.
Every player who attended the camp was signed with Country Roads Trust. It was not an official team event. However, there are no details regarding how athletes may have been compensated for the event.
