National Signing Day didn’t go without a big splash. Quintavion Norman, a 2024 linebacker out of Georgia, announced his commitment to Kentucky on Wednesday, adding some depth to the UK LB room.
The 6-foot-3, 205-pound linebacker from Newton (Covington, GA) visited Kentucky for an official visit on Feb. 3, coming away with an offer from the program. Just a few days later, Norman made it official, signing with the Cats on National Signing Day.
“They understood my story and they develop players,” Norman told KSR+. “That’s their tradition. I get along with Coach [Brad] White and Coach [Mark] Stoops. They really believed in me and gave me the opportunity to come there, be great, and be a part of their program. I love the facilities and the people that are around.”
The Kentucky coaches struck a chord with Norman when they told him the story of Josh Allen. Allen was a player that UK found late in the process who ended up carving out a long career for himself in the NFL.
“That story was great. It was really heart-touching,” Norman said. “I don’t know him personally or have watched him before, but I really like his story. His story is similar to mine. He made it, so I can make it too with that same story.“
‘I’m An Explosive Player’
Quintavion Norman is a late addition to the Kentucky 2024 recruiting class but may prove to be a significant one. KSR’s Adam Luckett broke down his film in his latest film room, but Norman also gave his thoughts on his game.
“I’m an explosive player,” Norman said. “I cover ground and I tackle well.”
Norman highlights his physicality and explosive talents as his greatest strengths. He’s ready to add to a winning culture.
“I’m going to bring winning,” he said. “I love to win, so I’m going to bring that to them. We’re going to get rings. We’re going to win. Just sit back and watch.”
Navigating the Recruiting Process with His Brother
Luckily for Quintavion Norman, he didn’t have to navigate the recruiting process alone. Norman is the younger brother of Tennessee Titans cornerback Tay Gowan, who played college football at UCF.
“He kept my head on straight throughout practice whenever I would get down on myself,” Norman said of Gowan. “He made it so I knew I could do it.”
When it came to making a decision, Gowan told Norman to find a place that showed him a lot of love. He also insisted on the importance of taking an official visit.
“Go to a place, visit, and make sure you like the environment, the coaches, the staff, and everybody,” Norman said. “He said it’s my decision.”
With the recruiting process behind him, Norman is itching to get to Kentucky. He’s only a few months away from showing Big Blue Nation what he’s about.
“I’m a great football player,” he said. “I can’t wait to get there and show them what I’ve got.”
