Alabama basketball’s non-conference schedule got even tougher on Friday.

According to Jon Rothstein, the Crimson Tide is working to finalize a home-and-home series with Purdue that will begin next season. Alabama will travel to Mackey Arena at an unknown date, while the Boilermakers make the return trip to Tuscaloosa, Alabama in 2025-26.

This will mark the second year in a row that Alabama and Purdue will meet on the hardwood. The Crimson Tide and Boilermakers played a game in Toronto last season as part of the Hall of Fame Series. Purdue, ranked No. 4 nationally at the time, won the contest by a score of 92-86. Mark Sears and Zach Edey each scored 35 points in the December meeting. Sears and Edey have both entered the NBA draft, with Sears maintaining his college eligibility.

Purdue posted a 34-5 (17-3 Big Ten) record in 2023-24 and was one of the No. 1 seeds in the NCAA Tournament. Like Alabama, the Boilermakers reached the Final Four and advanced to the national title game before losing to champion UConn, 75-60, in Glendale, Arizona.

This year’s battle of Final Four teams will be the 10th overall between the two programs. Purdue owns a 6-3 lead in the series after claiming the victory over the Tide in Toronto.

The Purdue series is the latest difficult game added to Alabama’s 2024-25 schedule this week. On Monday, the NIL-driven Players Era Festival in Las Vegas was reported, and the Tide will be one of eight teams participating, along with Houston, Notre Dame, Oregon, Rutgers, San Diego State and Texas A&M. Alabama will also welcome Illinois to Birmingham, face Creighton at home and take part in the ACC/SEC Challenge before SEC play begins.
