Where Clemson's Andrew Booth is likely to land on Day 2 of NFL draft

CLEMSON — The first round of the NFL draft ended Thursday night with former Clemson cornerback Andrew Booth Jr. still on the board.

Booth was projected by most outlets to be selected in the first round of the draft, but that ended up not being the case.

He enters Day 2 as one of the top draft prospects remaining.

NFL.com has Booth going in the second round, No. 36 overall to the Giants in its Day 2 mock draft, stating that “Booth’s recent core muscle surgery might have scared some teams off, but his talent could be too much to pass up on.”

CBS Sports also has the former Clemson star going No. 36 overall to the Giants. “Booth is a twitched-up ball hawk when healthy,” CBS says.

A few other outlets have Booth coming off the board even earlier.

ESPN has Booth being taken No. 34 overall by the Vikings.

Yahoo! has the Vikings taking Booth at No. 34 overall as well and believes that he could be the No. 2 cornerback for the Vikings as a rookie.

Sports Illustrated also has Booth going No. 34 overall and states that he “is an athletic cover man with athletic ball skills.”

Bleacher Report joins those two outlets in projecting Booth to land with the Vikings at No. 34.

Booth should hear his name called early Friday night and it appears likely that he will land with either the Giants or Vikings, according to reports.

What did Booth do at Clemson?

Andrew Booth signed with Clemson for the class of 2019 as a five-star recruit who was one of the top cornerbacks in the country.

He played in 13 games as a freshman, finishing with six tackles and a pass break up.

As a sophomore in 2020, Booth appeared in 11 games, with four starts. He made several highlight plays and finished with 30 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss and two interceptions.

Heading into his junior season, the challenge for Booth was to get more consistent. It’s safe to say he did that.

The Georgia native was one of the best cornerbacks in the country and chose to turn pro early after his strong junior season.
