CLEMSON — The Charlotte Sports Foundation, which is hosting the Clemson-Georgia opener in Charlotte, is expecting Bank of America Stadium to be at full capacity for the Sept. 4 game.

North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper said earlier this week that he anticipates all social distancing, capacity and mass gathering restrictions to be lifted in N.C. by June 1.

Charlotte Sports Foundation Director of Communications Frank Kay told ClemsonSports.com on Friday that the expectation is for the game to be played in front of a capacity crowd. Bank of America Stadium holds nearly 75,000 fans.

Clemson Director of Athletics Dan Radakovich provided an update on the game during Clemson’s Board of Trustees meeting Friday morning.

According to Radakovich, Clemson has an allotment of 28,000 tickets for the opener against Georgia and has sold about half of those thus far.

“Recently North Carolina has eased restrictions. We want to make sure that carries through the summer,” Radakovich said. “But as we sit today are looking forward to that game Sept. (4th) at Bank of America Stadium. Up to this point we’ve sold about 14,000 tickets of our 28,000 allotment.”

IPTAY donors have until April 30 to submit season ticket requests and requests for the Georgia game, according to a school spokesperson.

In the Board of Trustees meeting, Radakovich said that season ticket sales are going well.

“We to date have secured 36,000 season tickets,” he said. “We have a few more days before we get to the end of April. So we really expect to be in the mid 50s as it relates to season football tickets, which is a testament to not only our football program and coach Swinney, but also our fans. How much they love Clemson University, how much they love our football program and want to come back.”
