Clemson adding one of biggest videoboards in college football
CLEMSON — Clemson is officially adding a new videoboard and completing other renovations at Memorial Stadium.
The Clemson Board of Trustees officially approved upgrades to Memorial Stadium on Thursday. The updates were approved by the Finance Committee last week.
The proposed project is estimated to cost $65 million. In addition to a new videoboard, it includes the development of a Concourse Club in the WestZone, expanding gameday locker rooms and reconfiguring Lot 5.
The new videoboard and Concourse Club should be ready for the 2022 season, with the locker room and Lot 5 renovations planned for 2023.
Clemson’s current videoboard is in the bottom half of the ACC in terms of size and is 84th nationally at 1,550 total square feet. The new videoboard will be the eighth-largest in the nation and the second biggest in the ACC at 7,100 square feet.
The Clemson football program is also adding a couple of other upgrades around campus thanks to private gifts. At the Allen N. Reeves Football Complex, an Elite Performance and Wellness Center is being added near where the outdoor basketball court is.

“This is something that has been very high on the list from football over the last few years, to be able to utilize recovery areas for advanced practices and restoration and rejuvenation for our student-athletes,” Tigers Athletics Director Dan Radakovich said Wednesday.
The Poe Indoor Practice facility is also getting an upgrade. New storage is being added, as is an equipment and hydration station.
There will also be a student-athlete branding institute, multi-purpose media spaces, relocated applied science lab and NFL locker rooms for pro players who return to Clemson to work out. Radakovich expects the student-athlete branding institute in particular to be an important addition.
“The student-athlete branding institute is really going to be a real positive lever for us as it relates to NIL and our student-athletes creating their brand and continuing to move forward during their time here at Clemson,” Radakovich said. “Creating that one-stop shopping area for not only education on NIL, but also the opportunity for content creation, I think it’s very, very important for us.”
