Clemson freshman receiver set to make college debut
Clemson is set to add a playmaker to its wide receiver rotation this weekend as freshman Adam Randall will make his college debut.
The Myrtle Beach native suffered a torn ACL this spring but has been cleared to play Saturday against Louisiana Tech.
Randall should immediately be a top receiving option for quarterback DJ Uiagalelei after an impressive spring for the Tigers.
“I think he’s going to be green light and ready to go,” Clemson coach Dabo Swinney said. “Good to get him back. He’s been practicing and doing all of that.”
Randall was ranked as the No. 7 receiver and No. 52 overall player in the country for the class of 2022, according to the On3 rankings.
The plan is to bring him back slowly and not overuse him in Week 1.
“We’ll probably have him on some type of pitch count, I’m sure, but he will be cleared to go play this week,” Swinney said. “So excited about getting him back in the fold and getting him back going.”
Clemson could use the help at receiver as Tigers wideouts have been inconsistent through the first two weeks of the season.

Sophomore Beaux Collins and freshman Antonio Williams are leading the Tigers in receiving so far.
Collins and Williams each have seven receptions. Collins leads Clemson with 111 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
With that said, Clemson has been missing someone who can make contested catches consistently, and Randall should be able to do that.
He is big, fast, physical and has excellent ball skills.”
“He’s tough. He’s a tough kid. … He is a freshman, and not only is he a freshman, he’s a freshman coming off an injury. But I’m thankful he was able to get a lot of spring practice in. He does have a visual of what it looks like and what he can do. He’s just got to work his way back into good playing shape and the rotation.
He brings a great competitiveness. He’s a great finisher on the ball. He’s got a big, strong body. He can run. He’s not going to make us worse, that’s for sure.”
