Clemson football releases gameday designations for 2023 season

Clemson has released its gameday designations for the 2023 football season.

The Tigers will have a different theme for each home game in 2023, beginning with the home opener against Charleston Southern in Week 2 on Sept. 9.

Here is the plan for each home game in 2023:

Saturday, Sept. 9 vs. Charleston Southern: Football Reunion Day, Land Grant Day

Details: The football program welcomes back its anniversary teams; Clemson’s mission as a land grant institution is highlighted. 

Saturday, Sept. 16 vs. Florida Atlantic: Family weekend

Details: Clemson welcomes families of students back to campus.

Saturday, Sept. 23 vs. FSU: Hall of Fame Day

Details: The Hall of Fame Class of 2023 will be recognized. The class is yet to be announced, but nominations are now open

Saturday, Oct. 7 vs. Wake Forest: Homecoming, Breast Cancer Awareness Game

Details: Homecoming is a tradition dating to 1922 in Clemson, and with it comes Tigerama, the floats on Bowman and several other activities. The pink game provides a platform to support breast cancer awareness and research. 

Saturday, Nov. 4 vs. Notre Dame: IPTAY Day 

Details: Founded in 1934, IPTAY is one of the oldest and most successful athletic fundraising organizations in the country. This celebration is a way to honor and thank donors for their commitment to Clemson student-athletes.

Saturday, Nov. 11 vs. Georgia Tech: Military Appreciation Day

Details: A day of gratitude and recognition for those who have served. 

Saturday, Nov. 18 vs. UNC: Senior Day

Details: The football program recognizes its seniors with a solo run down the hill.

Still, the Tigers did win the ACC championship for the seventh time in eight years in 2022 and also won at least 10 games for the 12th consecutive year.

On a disappointing note, Clemson did lose to all three non-ACC Power 5 teams it faced.

The Tigers have a chance to avenge two of those losses this year when they host Notre Dame and play at South Carolina.

The Gamecocks snapped Clemson’s 40-game home winning streak in November and kept the Tigers out of the College Football Playoff.

Clemson QB Cade Klubnik will get his first shot at South Carolina this season, as he is taking over for California native DJ Uiagalelei, who transferred to Oregon State this offseason.
