Clemson receivers back at practice, ready for Georgia Tech

Two of Clemson’s top receivers are back at practice and ready to go for next Monday’s opener against Georgia Tech.

Dabo Swinney said Monday night on his call-in show that Beaux Collins and EJ Williams are now healthy after missing a good bit of preseason camp.

Collins had been dealing with a shoulder injury, while Williams had a hematoma in his back.

Collins is likely to start at receiver alongside Joseph Ngata and Brannon Spector, while Williams appears set to be the top receiver off the bench.

Collins finished second on Clemson’s team last season with 31 catches for 407 yards and three touchdowns.

Williams dealt with injuries all season and finished with nine catches for 66 yards after having a strong season as a freshman in 2020.

One receiver who won’t be back for the matchup against the Yellow Jackets is freshman Adam Randall.

The Myrtle Beach native suffered a torn ACL in the spring.

While Randall won’t be back for next Monday’s game, he should be back fairly soon.

Swinney said he is back in practice and has been taking part in 1-on-1s.

Swinney added that defensive end Xavier Thomas is also out for the game against Georgia Tech after suffering a foot injury during a scrimmage earlier this month.

Thomas is also progressing well, though, and isn’t expected to miss too much time.
