In-state playmaker Misun Kelley officially signs with Clemson

An in-state playmaker from just down the road in Misun Kelley has officially signed with Clemson.

Kelley made things official with the Tigers Wednesday morning, after committing to Clemson in October.

He chose the Tigers over offers from Louisville, Virginia Tech and others.

Kelley attends Daniel High, which is just a few miles from Clemson’s campus. He was originally committed to Virginia Tech.

“It’s close to home. I can go and see my mom whenever I want to,” Kelley previously told On3 of why he chose Clemson. “She’s someone I really love. It was a dream come true. … It’s a lot of motivation. I’m right here.”

Kelley is ranked as the No. 90 cornerback and No. 914 overall player in the country, according to the On3 Consensus rankings.

He has hopes of coming in and immediately contributing for the Tigers.

“I feel like I can play there early as a freshman,” Kelley said. “I’m not saying I’d start, but I feel like I can get playing time really early.”

Kelley helped Daniel to a 12-1 record in 2022 and a berth in the state semifinals. He was a key part of a 36-game winning streak for Daniel across the 2020-22 seasons. He helped Daniel to 3A state titles in 2020 and 2021.

Kelley played multiple positions and scored touchdowns five different ways as a senior. He signed with Clemson as an athlete.

Clemson culture a good fit for Misun Kelley

Kelley has also taken a lot of stock in the Clemson culture. The coaching staff has made an impression on him.

How Clemson treats people is one thing that stood out to Kelley from the start.

“He’s a pretty cool coach,” Kelley said of Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney. “I like how he runs things and treats his players. I like how all the coaches are over there.”

Kelley considers himself a hard worker. He feels he is a good fit at Clemson.

“They’re getting a hard worker and a grinder,” Kelley said. “I feel like I’m going to always work hard to get better, pay attention and be a good person.
