Austin (Texas) Vangegrift four-star offensive lineman Ian Reed saw all he needed to with Clemson over the weekend. Reed is “all in.”

The No. 285 overall prospect in the On3 Consensus rankings announced his commitment to the Tigers on Tuesday. Texas had been the leader in On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine.

The Tigers made ground this spring after offering the four-star offensive lineman. Reed loved the family aspect of Clemson. Their culture was always a big part of his decision. He spoke on the Tigers’ tradition of being a close-knit program and community after his visit in April.

“The family aspect that they approached me with has stood out,” Reed said in a previous interview. “The coaches and players want to get better and compete every day. That’s really important to me because I want to develop and grow with the right fit and style wherever I end up choosing to go.”

The alumni base made a mark for Reed as well.

“What they have impressed me with is what opportunities they have to offer,” Reed said. “If I didn’t make it to the NFL, I know they have a strong alumni support system.”

Reed is the second Clemson commitment this week. Clemson landed four-star cornerback Avieon Terrell on Monday. The Tigers now have the No. 8 overall class in the class of 2023 Consensus Football Team Recruiting Rankings.

The addition of Reed is a big one for Tigers offensive line coach Thomas Austin.

Reed had announced plans to take official visits to Wisconsin, Texas and Oklahoma State, in addition to his trip to Clemson.

However, after visiting Clemson over the weekend, Reed had all of the info he needed to shut down his recruitment.

In addition to Reed and Terrell, Clemson also has commitments from quarterback Christopher Vizzina, receiver Nathaniel Joseph, edge David Ojiegbe and cornerback Branden Strozier.
