Top Clemson commit expects Tigers to finish with No. 1 recruiting class
Clemson’s 2023 recruiting class continues to get better and better.
With the addition of five-star defensive lineman Peter Woods last Friday, the Tigers are up to No. 5 in the On3 team recruiting rankings.
Ohio State is No. 1, followed by Notre Dame, Alabama and Texas. Miami is the only other ACC team in the top 10, coming in at No. 7.
While Clemson has just recently reached the top 5, Woods made it clear that the Tigers aren’t done yet.
Woods told On3’s Joseph Hastings that he expects Clemson’s class to continue to climb.
“The class of 2023, Clemson, the No. 1 class is on the way,” he said. “That’s all I gotta say.”
Clemson has 17 commits thus far in the class of 2023, with Woods leading the way as the lone five-star. The Alabama native comes in at No. 24 overall in the On3 consensus player rankings.
Four-star quarterback Christopher Vizzina is also a top-30 overall player in the class, coming in at No. 29.
Defensive line is the position where Clemson has landed the most commitments thus far with five, and all five players are extremely talented.

In addition to Woods, the Tigers have landed four-star defensive lineman Vic Burley, four-star defensive lineman Stephiylan Green, four-star edge David Ojiegbe and four star edge AJ Hoffler.
While Woods feels that Clemson will end up with the top recruiting class for this season, he believes that the Tigers defensive line class will prove to be historically good.
“I think this year we’re going to have the best d-line class to ever come out,” he said.
It remains to be seen just where this class will end up and who the Tigers will close with over the next few months. But it’s clear that a 10-3 season did not hurt Clemson’s momentum on the recruiting trail.
