Clemson freshman DB to undergo season ending surgery
Clemson freshman cornerback Myles Oliver is set to miss the 2022 season.
Oliver has a shoulder injury that will require season-ending surgery, Tigers coach Dabo Swinney revealed Wednesday night.
Oliver signed with Clemson as a three-star cornerback in February.
“Myles Oliver, he had an issue with his shoulder in high school coming out. A few days ago it came out again,” Swinney said. “He’s a guy we’re going to go ahead and fix it, because he was probably going to redshirt for us. We’ll probably go ahead and just fix that so we don’t have to deal with it down the road and get him well.”
Oliver was ranked as the No. 861 overall player in the country for the class of 2022, according to the On3 consensus rankings.
He was also viewed as the 84 cornerback and No. 89 player in Georgia.
The 6-0, 179 pound DB was off to a good start in fall camp prior to the injury.
“Super athlete. Explosive. Can jump,” Swinney said. “Where he is on the depth chart, to try to ask him to strap it up and play and do it after the season… I think the best thing for him is to go ahead and fix it.”

Clemson also has a couple of players banged up, but Swinney did not get into specifics. He did say that none of the other injuries are long term.
“We’ve got a few guys banged up, might miss a little time here or there, but nothing trending toward not playing the first game or anything,” Swinney said.
Update on Clemson DT Tre Williams
Defensive tackle Tre Williams is another player who is currently banged up.
Williams had to have a procedure done on his knee earlier this week, but he is progressing well.
“Great. He’s in a good spot. We anticipate him being ready for Tech. Just a little clean up,” Swinney said.
Williams started one game for the Tigers last season and appeared in 11 games.
He had 13 tackles, including four tackles for loss in 2021.
