Clemson makes top 4 for tight end Oscar Delp
CLEMSON — Oscar Delp is getting close to a decision and Clemson is one of the candidates.
The four-star tight end and top-100 prospect in the class of 2022 released his final 4 schools on Thursday night. Dabo Swinney’s program made the cut.
The Tigers were joined by Georgia, Michigan, and South Carolina.
The rising senior tight end has long been a target for Clemson visiting the campus twice in June. The Tigers are also recruiting five-star Jaleel Skinner for the position.
Last month, Delp was a participant at The Opening where the tight end got the chance to build a rapport with Clemson commit Cade Klubnik. The Texas native is currently the No. 2 overall quarterback in the class of 2022 per On3 Recruits.
Earlier this week, ClemsonSports.com caught up with Delp to get updated on where his recruitment stands entering the football season.
“If I take another official it’ll definitely be to Clemson. I’m not really sure if I’m gonna use it or not, because they like to do their officials at the end of the season. But they’re definitely in my top schools,” Delp said. “It’s just how they do things. They do things different over there. They’ve always done it like that. That’s just what works best for them they think. It’s not frustrating because I’ve been over there a couple of times. I think I’ve gotten a feel for everything.”

“I wanna try to go to a Georgia game, a Clemson game, a South Carolina game, and a Michigan game. I’m thinking towards the end of September.”
Over Labor Day weekend, Delp will make the journey to Charlotte, North Carolina to see two of his finalists go head-to-head when Clemson meets Georgia at Bank of America Stadium. The Bulldogs have gone after Delp hard in this recruiting cycle using a #DelpIsADog campaign on Twitter with current Georgia players tweeting it out. Meanwhile, South Carolina has done something similar with a “We want Oscar Delp” sign showing up in Columbia, South Carolina.
Clemson’s recruitment of Delp has been a bit more laid back, but the Tigers do want to add the talented tight end to their roster. The high four-star prospect is a modern-day threat that can create matchup problems for defenses weekly. The Tigers are set to lose Braden Galloway after the season and adding Delp would be a terrific addition.
Clemson has a shot at landing a commitment as this recruitment draws to a close.
