D.J. Uiagalelei to serve as counselor at Manning Passing Academy
D.J. Uiagalelei is spending his summer preparing for his first season as Clemson’s starting quarterback.
He’ll take a little break in mid-July, though. The sophomore has been named as one of the counselors for this summer’s Manning Passing Academy. One of the top offseason attractions for high school and college quarterbacks, the event is run by Peyton and Eli Manning, along with the rest of the Manning family.
Last year’s academy was called off due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but this year’s is on and scheduled for July 15-18 at Nicholls State in Thibodaux, La. Uiagalelei isn’t the only Clemson quarterback to work the camp as of late; Trevor Lawrence was a counselor back in 2019.
Uiagalelei joins a group of counselors that will include North Carolina’s Sam Howell, Georgia’s J.T. Daniels, Indiana’s Michael Penix and UCF’s Dillon Gabriel.
Before the Tigers begin training camp in August, their starting quarterback will be dishing out advice and learning from some of the best to ever play the position.
Valerie Cagle named NFCA All-American
The ACC Player and Freshman of the Year is still racking up the accolades.
Clemson softball’s ace Valerie Cagle was named a National FastPitch Coaches Association second-team All-American on Wednesday. She becomes the first-ever All-American in program history.
Cagle led the Tigers in the batter’s box and the circle this past season, guiding them to an ACC regular-season title and an appearance in the ACC Championship game. Clemson ended the season with a loss in the Tuscaloosa NCAA Regional. She is the only player in the nation to pitch at least 200 innings while achieving at least a .400 batting average. Cagle (1.16) currently ranks second in the ACC in ERA.

He spent 2019 and part of 2020 at Danvers (Mass.) St. John’s Prep before transferring to IMG Academy.
Recruiting updates from first session of Dabo Swinney camp
For the first time in nearly two years, recruits were on campus working out at Dabo Swinney’s football camp Wednesday morning.
Clemson recruiting is heating up now that the dead period is over. Swinney’s camp was canceled last year due to COVID-19.
Camp sessions are being held in the morning and afternoon on June 2-3, June 5-6 and June 10-11. Campers range from rising eighth graders to high school seniors.
Here is who impressed at camp on Wednesday.
