Clemson makes top 5 for running back Trevor Etienne
CLEMSON — Trevor Etienne is one step closer to making his commitment and Clemson remains firmly in the mix.
The elite running back, who is the younger brother of former Tigers star Travis Etienne, released his top 5 schools on Wednesday and Clemson made the cut.
The Tigers are joined by Alabama, Florida, Georgia and LSU.
The class of 2022 prospect is the only running back Clemson has offered in this class who isn’t currently committed to another school.
He participated at The Opening last month in California with Clemson commits Cade Klubnik and Adam Randall, as well as tight end target Oscar Delp.
ClemsonSports caught up with Etienne at The Opening to discuss his older brother Travis Etienne, Trevor’s recruitment and where Clemson stands.

“My brother just says do whatever’s best for you,” Etienne said last month. “Don’t make your decision based off of me because he doesn’t have to go to Clemson. It’s my decision. So (Clemson is) just like, ‘if you’re rockin’ we’re rollin.’”
Travis Etienne, of course, left Clemson as the ACC’s all-time leading rusher. He was eventually picked in the first round of the NFL Draft by the Jacksonville Jaguars and will play alongside former Clemson QB Trevor Lawrence during his rookie season.
Trevor Etienne also compared his game to his brother’s last month at The Opening.
“He’s special, obviously, but I would say I catch the ball better than him. And that’s something we work on at the house. He knows and I know, and we just will compete, helping each other get better. We work on speed drills, catching drills,” Trevor Etienne said.
“We’re both very explosive. Great vision, great backs, low to the ground. Thick thighs, big legs. We just help each other.”
