GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Colin Castleton was named Southeastern Conference Player of the Week on Monday after surpassing 1,000 career points at Florida and helping the Gators extend their winning streak to three games last week.

In Saturday’s win over Missouri, Castleton became the first SEC player this century to post 16 points, 13 rebounds, six assists, three steals and two blocked shots in a conference game, with Arkansas’ Derek Hood being the last to do so in 1999.

Castleton is also the first player nationally to hit all of those marks vs. a D-I opponent in nearly four years (Minnesota’s Jordan Murphy in 2019) and only the fourth this century to do so against a power-conference opponent.

Castleton scored his 1,000th point against the Tigers, becoming the second transfer in school history to reach the milestone (along with Dorian Finney-Smith) and the 55th overall member of Florida’s 1,000-point club.

“It feels good, you know, I’ve been in college for a long time. I feel like a grandpa sometimes,” Castleton said. “It feels good to be able to do that. It doesn’t really matter to me personally. If we wouldn’t have won, I probably wouldn’t have cared at all. The biggest thing for me was winning this game tonight.”

Castleton’s six assists and three steals vs. Mizzou both marked career highs, and his 13 rebounds were a season high, as he notched his 16th double-double as a Gator, surpassing Joakim Noah and Chandler Parsons’ career totals for fifth-most at UF since 1996-97.

Castleton led the Gators with 18 points in their win at LSU, and his 12 free throws made and 15 free throw attempts both marked career highs. He had double-figure scoring in the second half of both games, posting 13 points at LSU and 10 vs. Missouri after the break.

It marks Castleton’s fourth career SEC Player of the Week honor and his first this season. Only Vernon Maxwell has earned the award more in Florida history.
