Fast-rising DL transfer Jay'Viar Suggs to visit Florida State this weekend
Florida State has its first visit of the spring portal window scheduled for this weekend, and it will feature a talented defensive lineman.
Former Grand Valley State tackle Jay’Viar Suggs tells Warchant he will be visiting Tallahassee “Friday Through Saturday.” This comes off him getting an offer from the Seminoles late Sunday night.
Suggs entered the portal as a grad transfer with two years of eligibility remaining, according to his Twitter posts.
The 6-foot-3, 295-pound defensive lineman has been at Grand Valley State since 2019. He redshirted his first year and did not record stats until the 2022 season.
In the two seasons he played at the Division-II school, he recorded 42 tackles, 14.5 tackles for loss and eight sacks.
The former Laker was also good at affecting opponents’ passing attacks during his time in Allendale, Mich., recording nine pass deflections.
The Flint, Mich., native entered the transfer portal on April 22. In his first few days, he only seemed to generate offers from Group of 5 schools. However starting on April 25, he started collecting multiple Power 5 offers.
Those include Miami, Wisconsin, Arkansas, Michigan State, Minnesota, Lousiville, Purdue, Kentucky, Nebraska, TCU, Iowa and Kansas State. With the most recent being Florida State.
