Another intriguing five-star prospect is back on the board for the Georgia Bulldogs after defensive lineman Justus Terry announced his decommitment from USC on Wednesday. The Manchester, Ga. native was once committed to UGA before flipping to the Trojans.

Terry joins fellow star Peach State prospect Isaiah Gibson (five-star EDGE) in backing off of the pledge to Lincoln Riley and company, quickly becoming priorities of the highest degree for Kirby Smart and the crew in Athens. Both took official visits to Georgia earlier this summer and have been vocal about the Bulldogs’ continued pursuit of them – even with a standing commitment to USC.

“You know, the motto is always, you know, it’s a marathon,” Terry told WeAreSC’s Scott Schrader after his official visit to Athens. “You know, they preaching that to me, instilling it in me and, you know, to December, I won’t sign until December, so I won’t know it to the end.”

“It was the player development (that stood out),” Terry added. “You know, they are trying to place me in the role as Travon Walker and Mykel Williams. So player development plays a big part in my decision. The way they were talking about development is, you know, just getting me bigger, faster and stronger, you know, keeping my weight now and around 270 to 260. They preached to just put the work in and I come in and do my thing.”

Terry is the nation’s No. 7 overall prospect and No. 2 defensive lineman according to the On3 Industry Ranking. He is a five-star according to all four of the major recruiting publications.

Scouting Report

Tremendous frame and build for an interior defensive line prospect. Stands in at 6-foot-5, 275 pounds with excellent weight distribution throughout his frame. Wins with first step and lateral quickness, has rare get off and leverage for a player of his stature. Quality bend and ability to change direction, comfortable in space. Uses his length to initiate contact consistently and sheds blockers with ease. Able to anchor and two-gap if asked to in run support. Will need to continue to fill out and gain functional play strength at the next level. Should be able to carry an extra 20-30 pounds on his frame. High upside prospect who will be in consideration for a first round selection in the NFL Draft.
