It’s shaping up to be quite a weekend in Athens, Georgia where top level recruits are concerned, and one of the nation’s best is confirmed to be joining the list, as On3’s Steve Wiltfond has confirmed that five-star offensive tackle David Sanders will be in town for the annual spring scavenger hunt event.

Ranked as nation’s No. 1 offensive tackle in the Class of 2025 according to the On3 Industry Ranking, the 6-foot-5 and a half, 275 pound rising senior is no stranger to Athens, having last spent time with the Bulldogs in mid-March.

It won’t be his last trip either, as the Bulldogs are slated to host Sanders for an official visit on June 7. Clemson, Tennessee, Alabama, and Ohio State are also set to receive an official visit over the course of the summer, and the South Carolina Gamecocks and Nebraska Cornhuskers have already hosted him officially, as well.

The Bulldogs have been long involved and considered a major player throughout his recruitment. According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, Georgia is the current favorite to land his services with a 23.9-percent chance in the end.

This spring has shifted those notions somewhat, however, as Tennessee and Ohio State have risen quickly in the ranks for his services after Clemson was long believed to be Georgia’s main competition for his services.

“When they talk to me, it’s not just about football,” Sanders told Chad Simmons of both Georgia and Tennessee back in January. “It’s about my personal life and things I have going on outside of football. It’s really allowing me to build relationships with not only the head coach and my position coach, but the assistants. I’ve had defensive coaches texting me and cornerbacks coaches…I’m not going to play cornerback if I choose to go to Georgia, but when coach Fran (Brown) was there, he was still reaching out to me every day like he was going to coach me. Him telling me that I’m a priority not only for their school, but the whole program was pretty cool and something that has stuck out to me the most.”

David Sanders hails from Charlotte, North Carolina’s Providence Day School.
